
All bladders are different. Many patients assume they have a small bladder capacity or a “weak
bladder”. But that may not be the case and you won't know unless you are evaluated by a pelvic health physical therapist to know what or how your bladder may be working.
Also, bladder irritants are not the same for each individual either. What may irritate one bladder, may not irritate another.
Here are some general, good to know health bladder tips. If this is not how your bladder is functioning, then contact and meet with a pelvic health physical therapist. They can guide you on what you need to do to have a health bladder.
1. Urinate every 2-4 hours while awake 5-8 Voids in 24 Hour
2. Wait at least 30 to 90 minutes after 1st urge to urinate
3. Avoid “Just - in - Case” voiding
4. Relax Pelvic Floor Muscles to void Avoid Straining
5. Avoid Constipation
6. Stay properly hydrated
7. Limit Bladder Irritants
8.Minimize Pad use
9. Lengthen pelvic floor muscles
10. Strengthen weak pelvic floor muscles
